The Forgotten Minority
The Forgotten Minority is a book created to speak up and create awareness around the Asian American experience bringing up the racism, discrimination and forgotten and often ignored issues Asian American's face. This project was also personable as an Asian American myself I wanted to create this awareness. The common element throughout the pages are these two squares, one outlined and one solid yellow. They never quite fit into each-other, almost always overlapping but never equal. I wanted this to be a metaphor to the Asian American experience, never quite insiders or equals to caucasians but never quite fully seen as minorities which often creates on overlook on our issues. There are two main pieces of text in this book. One is from a someone's personal experience being Asian American, the other is from a non-Asian's point of view of the Asian American experience.
